Sanctuary het Wijland

Sanctuary het Wijland is an animal sanctuary in Darp, in the Dutch province of Drenthe, set up as a foundation in October 2023. It gives a permanent home to animals that have been neglected or abandoned, or that came out of the animal industry, alongside a permaculture garden and food forest on the same grounds. The sanctuary opens to the public one Saturday a month for a small booked group, with a presentation, a tour of the animals and a plant-based lunch. It also holds larger open days and one-off events, and it runs on volunteers.
