Green Acres Farm Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) animal sanctuary on a farm outside Silverton, Oregon, about 15 miles from Salem. Founded in 2011 and run by volunteers, it gives permanent homes to rescued farm animals β€” currently around 211 residents including cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, horses, a donkey, rabbits and cats. Alongside the sanctuary it runs an emergency assistance program that helps families keep their own animals fed and treated, fosters dogs and cats for local shelters, and hosts school and youth groups. It opens to the public for guided educational tours, a summer open barn, and an annual pumpkin patch and vegan bake sale, and holds volunteer work parties every other Saturday year-round.
