The Trang Vegetarian Festival (เทศกาลกินเจ) is an annual nine-day event following the Thai Jay (เจ) / Nine Emperor Gods tradition, which the Tourism Authority of Thailand describes as a vegan paradise where participants eat 'no meat, poultry, seafood, dairy' or any animal byproducts. Food stalls serve only tofu, soy protein, taro, and mushroom-based dishes, all marked by the distinctive yellow-and-red เจ flag. The festival is held in the ninth lunar month of the Chinese calendar each year.
