The Marcha por los Animales is an annual animal rights demonstration convened by Animalistas Unidos Chile, a coalition of animal rights organizations and activists. On April 18, 2026, marches took place in four cities simultaneously: Santiago (GAM entrance, Metro U. Católica, 17:00), Valparaíso Region / Viña del Mar (Reloj de Flores, 11:00), Maule Region / Linares (Plaza de Armas, 17:30), and Ñuble Region / Chillán (Av. Libertad con Argentina, 17:00). Key demands included official recognition of animals as sentient beings rather than property, criminalization of sexual violence toward animals, ethical population control through sterilization programs, and an end to practices such as dog racing, rodeo events, and animal-drawn transportation. Organizers requested that attendees not deface public property, not bring animals, dispose of waste properly, and not carry balloons.
